Two tame alpacas are part of the hospitality team!
Cocktail time

Just two safe and light-filled private suites with balconies overlooking our lawns running down to the historic, meandering Waitangi River. If your requested dates are unavailable please contact us direct, as we may still be able to look after you in a private, ensuite superior room.

All the hospitality and professional attention that brought thousands of guests and industry accolades to Orongo Bay Homestead over a quarter of a century now infuses this riverside lodge with warmth and welcome.

Elvie and Spot (our alpacas), free-ranging hens, two adorable pussycats, gourmet cuisine and our olive grove all await your discovery and delight. Birdsong, peace and privacy invite you to the perfect sustainable sanctuary for all seasons. Your safety is our first concern.

COVID-19 Policy

We do look forward to welcoming you, and assure you that we take seriously your healthful safety and that of other guests and ourselves. We will maintain physical distancing, and on request we can provide you with external direct access to your room.

You may be asked to state your vaccination status against Covid-19 if alert levels change. Your fully-vaccinated hosts may wear masks for your added reassurance but you are not obliged to so the same.

Some (not all) of our rates include your bakehouse breakfast with contactless delivery to your private balcony table. Contactless check-in is available.

Rooms are sanitised prior to arrival.

Fireside platters and reserve wines by the glass are a special treat.
