GUESTS ARRIVING IN AUCKLAND may hire a car or take a 50-minute flight to either Bay of Islands or Whangarei airport. The Homestead is a 40-minute drive from the former, or one hour from the latter. Cars must be booked in advance. The drive north from Auckland city takes three hours.
		DRIVING TO ORONGO BAY HOMESTEAD: Follow State Highway One north of Auckland for 2 hours to Whangarei, then continue north for 45 minutes to Kawakawa. Here you by-pass the township, leaving the highway which forks left, and instead continuing ahead on the well-sealed road north towards Russell via the Opua car ferry. Take the continuous ferry (last sailing 10pm daily) then drive 2 minutes towards romantic, historic Russell. The descent of the road to sea level brings you to Orongo Bay - the Homestead is opposite the oyster beds. BY COACH: Through a connecting passenger ferry from Paihia, Russell is served by daily coach from Auckland. We will meet guests at the ferry.
		BY AIR: A fifty minute Air New Zealand Link flight from Auckland lands up to five times a day at Bay of Islands Airport, Kerikeri. Cars may be hired there in advance (Avis or Hertz). Coach transfers, or our chauffered Rover, are available at reasonable cost.
