Just a few yards across the lawns, The Retreat is a special, airy, lakeside suite, ideal for guests needing easy access or who are disabled, featuring large French doors to private decks over the wildlife pond and to a private garden sun deck. Terracotta floors, compact disc sound system, fridge and beverage facilities, and full open-shower ensuite add to the private comforts.

At night, guests here can sometimes hear the endangered Kiwi birds in our woods, see the curious morepork in the close trees, or watch the rare native Brown Teal ducks that breed on the lake yet are tame enough to be fed by hand from the decks. In this blissful setting, it is quite common for summer guests to sleep securely, with doors open to nature.
